Waikari School Twilight Market

Last Thursday evening Waikari School held their very first twilight market. The children raised $840 which they agreed to donate to the Westpac Rescue Helicopter. It was a really fantastic evening well supported by parents and the community.
The children ran the stalls with Emma in charge of the bank and Matthew on the barbecue. It was all very exciting especially when Mrs Blair decided to pay wages to the children who then could spend it at the stalls.
The bank was a great system seeing people switching their dollars for tokens so everything was between 1 and 5 tokens. A simple system that even the 5 year olds could do. It was amazing to see the bargaining and entrepreneurial skills that the children used on the night. A big success!!!
